JOURNALIST: WEEK 6

Hello readers!!

I am Marina Ruip茅rez, this week's journalist馃挄. My role this week has been to report our work from Thursday to these days.

On Thursday, as "Un d铆a en el cole de mi maestro" was not held due to COVID-19馃樂, we represented our Codey Rockey activity to our classmates "Games of phones":

This is the video of how Harry Potty performed his circuit according to the coding of our colleagues:

Just as they showed us their augmented reality activity.

The task of these days has been to prepare how we would have done this activity (Codey Rockey) through social networks.
We performed this work on Tuesday in a videoconferencing class using the Blackboard Collaborate app due to class cancellation at the university馃挘.
                                                                                        #westayathome
Our stars Ver贸nica and Luc铆a did it divinely!!

As journalist, I have been researching different blogs and I have found this article very interesting of how teachers can work from home, on this page they give you some advices and make good recommendations that have helped us a lot because in this situation we find it very useful馃挭
https://trabajarporelmundo.org/trabaja-como-profesor-desde-casa/

Regarding the blogs of our classmates, I have decided to choose "Games of phones"'s blog, specially the journalist's post: https://resourcesandict.wordpress.com/2020/03/19/journalist-3/
My mate Silvia has explained their week very well and she did a great job.

TRANSLATORS: WEEK 6

Hello everybody, welcome again to our blog. We are Lorena and F谩tima 馃憟馃構 and this week we work as translators. Our work as translators consists in defining the five main terms related to what we have been doing and detailing if we have found any weakness while working 馃懛.
But this week has been a very special one. Due to CO-VID crisis, we did our first virtual class where we exposed the activity of 'Un d铆a en el cole de mi maestro' but in an online format 馃捇. If you check some of the other posts from this week you will find more information about these activities. But now, let's review some concepts related with them.

- Kahoot馃摮: Kahoot is an app we have used many times for educational purposes. With it, you can make quizzes and send it to whoever you want and it is fun because it is like a competition and it is always entertaining to compete with your partners. For this week we have used it so that our kids could review geometrical shapes and angles on their own.

- ACAD (Activity-centered Analysis and Design): it is a model focused on the analysis of activities within complex learning situations, producing a connection among the learning activity and the tasks of design ( set design, epistemic design and social design)馃憪.

- Blackboard collaborate: it is a virtual platform that provides communication spaces. It allows the participation of many people 馃懇馃懆馃懅馃懄 which can share different resources: presentations, a virtual blackboard and a chat. Moreover, you have the option of switching off the camera and the audio in such videoconference. Here we are showing you the platform, as we used it in the last RICT lesson.

- Power Point: it is a presentation programme in which the main goal is to explain the subject content in a schematic way, making it understandable and clear. Besides, it provides a large variety of services: you can add fotographs, music, audio and choose the decoration style that you prefer✌.

- Skype 馃檸: Skype is an app available for mobile phone or for computer that permits the communication between people, allowing also to see the other person. It is a very useful app because you can talk with many other people at the same time, something impossible with other apps and this week it has been our only communication source because we are in our houses without being able to meet 馃樂

- Circuit 馃殫: A circuit is a path created so that things could travel inside it. This week we have used a circuit for Harry Potty. We are very proud of our circuit, we included an exit and an end, some pictures from the Harry Potter's films in order to make it more real and so on.

Surprisingly, thinking that we wouldn't find new terms to define since we didn't have a new task as such, we did achieve to explain some technological terms related to this new virtual plan of teaching.

As a final note , we could say that the main weakness has been again the incapacity to work physically together due to this strange situation. Although this week has been a little bit difficult to organize because of such crisis, we have worked in a comfortable way distributing several tasks and sharing our ideas collectivelly via Google Drive and WhatsApp 馃摬.

We are staying at home but we are still working hard 馃挭 and, what is more important, as a team 馃檶 !
See you in future posts and please leave a comment with your beliefs or opinions馃挰馃挱.

FACILITATOR: week 6

Welcome once again ladies and gentlemen, it is i, your philosopher 脕lvaro 馃檱, and today i stand here as this week´s facilitator 馃拋, first and not last role in our emergency state, that who knows how much will last, but something is fo sure, it won´t be enough to deviate us from our duties!馃挭馃挭馃挭

As facilitator, this week i must say, has been rather, unoccupied, but most of it is due to our emergency state that not much can be done about, but we have still mostly attended to our tasks from beginning to end, from last thursday with our rather peculiar interaction with our classmates from "game of phones"馃懃馃挰馃懁 that did a good job by supporting us with our presentation as well as sharing ideas with us in order to improve our project in the online activity.

But let us cut to the chase. My main contribution as facilitator has been that of basically observing the rest of the group 馃憖, until the online session with Linda on last tuesday where i tried to give my support to the stars in order for them to try and chill their nerves a bit, since they where quite nervous馃挦 for explainning our online activities to not just Linda, but the whole classroom, at the same time, which is quite a presure to hold on one´s shoulders, however they had each other 馃憤馃憣and in the end their performance was a success, seemengly convincing Linda with the explanation, afterwards we all congratulated our collegues for their work.

Generally speaking, my role hasn´t been that remarkable this week, since all i have done is basically keep more attention 馃拏 in everyone than usual, make a few comments here and there and meddle a bit into their work. However, this is not my last task, and for that i will keep improving, doing my best so that everything works smoothly, now let us see what this future of ours has to offer...

STARS: WEEK 6.

Hey guys! We are Ver贸nica and Luc铆a and along this week we have been the STARS of our group⭐馃檵‍♀️馃懇. We have been working really well cooperating with each other and sharing our duties fairly.

It was quite different to what we might have expected this role to be, basically because on Tuesday 17th we had our very first online lesson馃捇, due to the coronavirus 馃憫馃樂 crisis. Instead of presenting this week’s task in front of our classmates in an actual classroom, we had to do the same on a live videoconference. After some tiny audio and video challenges at the beginning馃攰, we managed to show our work pretty well, and we are really happy with the result! 馃挭

Regarding the activity of this week (creating an online version of the activity we had arranged for last Thursday), we must say that it was quite headwrecking to make the necessary changes to adapt our previous activity馃, but in the end we managed to do it perfectly馃憣. We would like to thank our classmates from the group “Game of Phones”, since some of their suggestions in our brainstorm on Thursday really guided us in the right direction to succeed in our activity.

Here you have the handout that we created to perform the same activity about codification in an online manner, we hope you like it!

We would also like to highlight the importance of adapting the activity into an online format concerning the current situation we’re living in. All teachers in Spain and worldwide have been forced by the circumstances to discover new ways to keep track of their students’ progress, and although it is true that this is not the best situation at all, teachers keep striving to help their students. 馃懆‍馃彨馃懇‍馃彨

JOURNALIST: WEEK 5

Welcome back!! How are you all doing? Hope you are safe and free from the CORONA VIRUS!
This is David, playing the role of journalist.

As you may have experienced, this has been a pretty weird week, and our project has not avoided this issues.

This time, we were focusing on the Augmented Reality (AR for now on) task for the #UDCDMM project.

This work consisted on explaining the kids the water cycle and its stages in a dynamic and entertaining way, leaning on an AR app.
As always, we first performed a groupal brainstorm in order to find a path to follow and make this activity as fun as we could for all the students. We ended up choosing a wonderful idea: we were going to build an artificial landscape with mountains, rivers, clouds and all that stuff, and use it to explain the water cycle over it. To make it even more attractive to the kids, we included an special mountain with its own ice fusion; performing the classical experiment with baking soda!!!

This was by far their favorite part of the exercise so we are nothing but proud of it!!

But this is not everything!! The second part of the activity consisted on printing some coloring templates so they could choose their own colors to decorate their landscape. Later, they were able to use our phones with the app and see their artistic creations in AR. The results were crazy, with blue mountains, green skies and red rivers but also very original!!!

This has been a great experience and entertaining task to perform!! Although we only had the chance to deal with two kids instead of the 8-10 expected due to the COVID-19, we are very happy of the result and our performance, so we could say things went good for us through the virus week!

And thats all for today! Hope you enjoyed the week, stay tuned for more and don't leave home in a a few days!!

Shining Stars // Week 5

Hi everyone! This week we are Megan and F谩tima. We have made a great team and we have loved working together. 馃懎

Resultado de imagen de gifts de amigas chocandose las manos

The shame of this week has been  the issues that all of us are suffering with the COVID-19.
Due to the current situation we didn´t have as many students as we expected. We have to admit that, on the bright side we were able to enjoy only having two students and we had and had pleanty time to carry out the activity we had planned.
We were working on Augmented Reality and the Water Cycle. 馃挧☀☁☂

We divided the explanation between both of us and we had a really good feeling when we finished the task. The students seemed really happy and we even had time to ask them some questions about what they had learnt and we had passed our aim. 馃槡

The first part of our speech was about the explanation of the different processes of the Water Cycle mentioning the elements that occur in nature and that are essential. For that to be interesting and to facilitate the memorization of the main contents we had made a mock-up. Thus, in a visual manner, children could imagine and recreate all the events that happened in such Cycle.

In fact, to explain the fusion process in a dynamic and fun way and LIVE we got the students to do an experiment about the snow melting from the mountains into rivers and ending up in the sea.

Here we have a little piece of video to watch these performance. To reach these result, within the bottle that is found inside the mountain, we mixed water and blue dye with vinager and sodium bicarbonate, producing the a chemical reaction. To watch it, please click the following link: https://youtu.be/Rgp5gh6mOnk

Then, in the second part, we transmit them the steps to achieve the: AUGMENTED REALITY.

We show them how to paint the templates and next how to use the App.

The suprising thing was that the children didn't really know what the Water Cycle was so we explained it to them and then asked them different questions to made sure they had understood.

Also, we thought it was amazing the reaction of the children when they saw how there picture was reflected on the mobile phones. We loved watching the children enjoy out activity. 馃槰馃槺

Last and not least we would like to talk about the experience as STARS! ⭐⭐
Both of us think that this role is important to get the feeling of what it is like to be a teacher. It was down to us to explain the activity and make sure the children were understanding and enjoying the session. We were a Little bit nervous that morning but once the show was on time flew.

What is more, we learned that school is a complex structure in which sometimes the things don't happen as we have imagined and specially in that case, we had the obligation of adapting to the new situation and context that was presented to us.

Of course, all roles are important but we loved every minute of our opportunity to shine!
