Yeah... I know this is a little bit confusing, so I´ve elaborated a mind map or diagram in orderto make it more visually appetizing. As we were very proud of our diagram for thepresentation, I've decided to use its model: ❤️馃榾

I'm going to explain it a little bit, just in case you don't understand it. Each color refers to a different channel, so it is blue for youtube, yellow for the podcast and pink for the announcement board. the title in each circle stands for what we used each source to, and if you follow the arrows, they'll lead you to the link itself. As it is a screenshot you are not able to visit the webpages by clicking on them. If you want to do so, please head to the links posted before. ⬆️⬆️⬆️

So with that all, my work is done. Hope you everyone liked and stayed safe at home!!
    See you next week 馃グ馃グ❤️❤️

WEEK 8: STARS

Hey everybody! It is us, 脕lvaro and Luc铆a, be welcomed and rejoice for this week we have been the Stars of our group⭐馃檵馃檵‍♂️

The activity for this week was creating our Personal Learning Environment (PLE) that we would need in order to learn how to use 3 main communication channels in our contextual school: YouTube, Podcasts and an online announcement board.

We always try to get involved in every project, but as stars we tried to further surpas our limits. Apart from working in each of our minigroups (脕lvaro in announcement board and Luc铆a in podcast), we helped in every other aspect we could. We also prepared what we wanted to say on Thursday and made several videoconferences on Zoom as to revise the presentation together.

We must admit that it was a chaotic week, and we would have overjoyed to have more time to prepare our presentation for Thursday, but in general we are proud of our work. As for the presentation itself, we wanted to go first since it helps a bit with the nerves. We also thought that being a star on the screen wouldn't be as hard as face to face, but it is as challenging, if not more, since it is harder to communicate when you can't actually see the faces of those who are listening to you. Even 脕lvaro ended up stressed 馃槀.

As useful as videoconferences and online tools can be in these times of confinement, we would say they can't replace face to face practices we used before. Communication between peers also gets complicated or at least not as fluent as it was back in class.

As for the new concept of this week, the Personal Learning Environment, there was a bit of confusion at first about it, and we think it is a concept which can still be explored by us more deeply. For the next couple of weeks, we will try to reflect on it and will tell you what our own individual PLEs are.

So stay tuned and we will see you guys then! And don't forget to rest during this 2-week vacation period馃槈, for only through your corresponding responsibility will we be able to end this crisis, but also remember, there is more than what meets the eye, your house is also filled with new possibilities.

Be responsible, be strong...

Aaand don´t forget to check out our speech:

脕LVARO

1.  Introduction: TALK ABOUT THE DIAGRAM, METAPHORS, AND WHAT WE HAVE CHOSEN:

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to our presentation.

We’ll be talking to you about the different resources that we have taken from our Personal Learning Environment, using these to learn how to use youtube, padlet and announcement board, classifying them according to their PLE squeme, mechanisms and activities through this explanatory diagram.

This diagram is simple, its roots are the very channels themselves related through colours with their corresponding resources we have used to better understand them, that will branch of in the main body of the tree.

We have made a bit of a metaphor with the colours, this to give them a special meaning, and so pink goes for love, blue for raining and yellow for the sun.

2.  THREE MAIN CHANNELS:

Online announcement board:

TOOL 1: Screen cloud “how and why make a digital bulleting board ”

Here we are explained how to use announcement boards and whether they comprehend the goals that we wish to achieve and portray in our classroom.

-The mechanisms we see through screen cloud are reflection, metacognition, self-awareness, recreation of information, construction of knowledge, critical reasoning and analysis.

-To which we can use an activity such as mixing different learning possibilities, thinking about problems that may arise in the classroom and downloading the app from the Play Store as to investigate the services it provides

-Then from a PLE perspective, we can consider it as part of reflection.

TOOL 2: Article “HOw to use forums in educational processes”

In this article we are presented with an explanation regarding what a forum is and offers recommendations for teachers from how to plan, evaluate and helping students on how to use it.

-The mechanisms for this article represent initiative and investigation.

-As for activities, we could consider interpreting other educational articles, listening to papers that talk on this topic and so on…

-Then for defining with PLE, we go for a rather reading perspective.

TOOL 3: “How to use a Forum in Moodle”

This particular youtube video is a tutorial on how to create a forum in the most used learning tool, this being Moodle, whose app includes many types of announcement boards from which the teacher can make his own selection.

-IN terms of mechanisms, we use gathering information and knowledge, summariz莽ing, cognitivism and selecting relevant ideas.

-Then for activities, we strive for watching tutorials on how to publicate a video, search edition programs, sharing doubts with professionals, friends and youtubers..

-For then, we considered putting it from the reflective perspective of PLE.

TOOL 4: “Padlet in education”

Padlet on its own is an online announcement board where many people discuss about a topic and share their opinions. This is of use to us as we can find different opinions from teachers about how we can use Padlet in class.

-It´s mechanisms classify as capacity of agreement, dialogue and concerns on improvement.

-Regarding activities, we strive for creating a Padlet account, proving the functionality of the app by sending the link to other partners.

-And for PLE, we selected sharing personal knowledge.

YouTube Channel

WOrth mentioning that we have used a different methology for its first two tools, so...

TOOL 1: “an article in the website WikiHow”

We have searched an article that told us about how to create a youtube channel down to the last detail l. It outlines what steps should be followed to do so.

TOOL 2: YouTube video “How To Make A YouTube Channel! (2020 Beginners Guide)”

Youtube is of course a useful tool when creating a youtube channel because with this app you learn how to modify it, edit it and use its different functions. Although it seems obvious the best way to know how to use Youtube is using the platform itself.

(Now in this case, we have used the same PLE elements, mechanisms and activities for both tools)

-Speaking of mechanisms, we find worth mentioning the ability to select the most important information and outline or distinguish between principal and secondary ideas.

-For then referring to activities, summarizing, outlining key points, extraction of the most important information and understanding steps.

-Thus for PLE, we have put these last two tools within the reading area.

LUC脥A

I’m going to continue talking about the tools we used to learn how to use YouTube (with educational purposes).

TOOL 3: The next tool is 3play media, an application useful as a complement to YouTube, for including subtitles, transcriptions or audio descriptions to our videos easily.

-The main PLE part in this tool is: reflecting by doing, since it is a platform where we can transform information and reflect upon it.

-Among the mechanisms, the most important one is the ability to manipulate different tools that are complementary to Youtube (and increase the quality of the videos)

-The activities involved are: editing a video and putting additional features on it

TOOL 4: The last tool we used for YouTube is a discussion on the forum CNET, about the best way to start a YouTube Channel.

We used this tool in order to to read other people’s points of view. Of course forums are not the most reliable sources, so after using them it is important to contrast the information with other sites or tools.

-The main PLE part in this tool is probably the most obvious one: sharing and reflecting within the community, because in forums people share knowledge and experiences and learn from and with other people.

-Regarding the mechanisms in the use of this tool, some of them are: Assertiveness, resolving problems, critical thinking, conversation and debating skills

-And activities involved could be: discussing on forums, writing one’s own opinion, as well as giving advice based on our experience, etc

Podcast

And we finally arrive to the last channel, which is the podcast.

TOOL 1: the first tool we used was a Web article written by Colin Gray about the benefits of podcasts in education. It is an interesting article which explains the several possibilities and advantages that podcasts offer in education (to revise previous lessons, help the students understand a topic at their own pace, etc…)

-Regarding the PLE, we could name two main parts involved: reading/acceding to the information, because the main function in this article is showing us the positive aspects of podcasts in education; and PLN (sharing and reflecting within the community), since it also has a sharing aspect, which is a comment section where people discuss about the article.

-Mechanisms put into practice here are: reading comprehension, differentiating main and secondary ideas, curiosity.

-Activity: text reading

TOOL 2: The second tool is a YouTube video by Garrett Pedersen and Sarah Lasseter on how to use a podcast as an educational tool. It also gives us useful resources to create podcasts and shows us how students can use this tool as well.

-About the PLE parts that it involves, we chose 2 main ones: Reading/acceding to the information, due to the fact that this video acts as a guide for teachers to learn how to implement this tool in their daily lessons; and Sharing within the community, because it is also possible to share our views in the comments as a community of learners.

-Among the mechanisms displayed are: investigation, curiosity, dialogue (in case we use the comment section).

-The main activity within this tool would be: watching audiovisual content (listening+watching)

TOOL 3: phone application Anchor. It is used for recording podcasts just with your phone, and it is super simple to use. Anchor is a lot like Instagram or Twitter in that it allows users to publish content to anyone who follows their feeds. The app lets users record several audio sections and then publish it all together as a podcast, even adding music and effects if you want to. Users can reply to posts with their own audio messages.

-PLE part: doing/reflecting while doing (because we learn about it by doing and think about it); and sharing and reflecting within the community (because we share with the students and they can interact with us as well).

-Mechanism: planning and organizing (for the structure and content of a podcast), synthesis and reflection about the podcast

-Activity: creation of a real podcast, with all that comes with it (recording, editing and publishing) and sharing it with your viewers.

TOOL 4: Article about how to use podcasts to develop listening skills in our students. We found this article super helpful, because podcasts would be an amazing tool for us in the future in our English classes for developing listening skills in our students. That’s why we chose it, since we are bilingual students at the university.

-PLE part: reading/acceding to the information

-Mechanism: search, curiosity, initiative and investigative spirit based on our personal interests

-Activity: text reading

3. Conclusion
Those are basically the tools that have formed our PLE this week, in order to learn about the 3 channels as educational tools.

To sum up, everyone has their personal learning environment; but we would like to highlight the importance of us having a personal learning environment about education, that is, being independent to keep learning about educational aspects on our own, since we will need it as future teachers, playing technology now more than ever a huge role.

That was our presentation, thank you for listening and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them.

WEEK 8: JOURNALISTS

Here we are again!馃憢, this week's journalist F谩tima and Patricia, in this post we want to explain a little bit how have we worked during these days.

First, on Tuesday our RICT teacher Linda told us the steps to accomplish the new task, giving us a general definition and idea about PLE in order to, afterwards, work profoundly on that term and being able to relate it with the three channels. In addition, it was interesting the revelation that she did about the schema that she uses when assessing our works.

After reading the task about PLE that we had to do for thursday, our facilitator Lorena organized a videocall馃摴 in order to clarify the task馃搫 and divide the work between all the members of the group.

After dividing the work, all of us started working hard馃挭 on the tasks in order to have it finished by the presentation of thursday, although this week's task was a bit complex, we work really well together and we are quite happy with how we have performed the tasks during the week.

The Wednesday was a day of work and preparation, all of us were submerged on the task, searching information, collecting data, designing the diagram, etc.

And finally, the big day came, the presentation went quite well, we hope that our teacher and classmates enjoyed our diagram, our stars did a fantastic job presenting it, we are very proud of them, here you can observe some images of the final results and of the presentation.

Besides, we want to consider the great job that our classmates "The Pickles" did (https://picklerict.blogspot.com/).

What really amazed us was the fantastic diagram that they created using a striking and stetic background. And although the idea that they tried to expose was totally different from that of us, it was also interesting and make us consider and think about another point of view that we hadn't reached. But we want to point out too the structure and organization of their whole blog, establishing the main events that occur in their projects in an attractive way.

Again, we have to make publish a website in which we have been inspired when carrying out not only the diagram of this task but also an informed and professional work along this subject. It was "Educational Technology" blog (https://edtech541johnsrud.wordpress.com/). It gave us a lot of enriching information about the teaching action apart from noticing the psychology that is behind the diagrams and ,thus, how importat is to portray in a visual and understanding manner our thoughts.

Finally, we have to say that we have enjoyed working as journalists this week because we get on quite well❤ and we found the role of the journalist quite entertaining, and although the circumstances are a bit difficult馃槗 we believe that the group has worked correctly during the whole week.
And, in fact, we had realized that we can be journalists staying at home and instead of taking fotographs being outside and being all the members physically together, we have the alternative of showing other type of relationship and scenaries as they are fotographs of groupal videocalls at home jeje.

That's all for now readers, we'll continue working hard after the Spring holidays, we wish you spend them in the best way possible. See you soon!馃挆

WEEK 8: ANALYST.

Good afternoon bloggers!!

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

saved by the bell "I'm so excited" on Make a GIF
(I LOVED THIS SERIE BTW)

During this week, I have been performing the role of being the analyst in this group as well as doing my part on this week's project, I was really looking forward to performing this role due to the fact that what I liked the most is analysing and overall providing a feedback to get things better, since comfort zone is not an option in my way of doing things.

Don't Step Out of Your Comfort Zone | LISTEN

However, I must admit that this week's project has been without a doubt the most challenging one that we have faced in this subject. At the beginning of the whole process we didn't know how to represent a PLE, and we just knew theoretical contents but we didn't know how to implement them in the practice. Additionally, we have to give thanks to Alicia from "The Cheetahs" who helped us in solving some of our initial doubts!, by the way you made a great job! https://cheetahblg.wordpress.com/blog-feed/

Moreover, since the task seems to all of us totally abstract, several points of view and ways of performing arose, and the problem was that we were not sure if any of them were the right way of carrying it out, and probably that's exactly the aim of these kinds of tasks, to encourage reflection, brainstorming and through sharing creating greater things, which are going to be differently executed in each others' eyes. Throughout all the projects that we have been doing, this is something that has always happened, but in this case it was more evident than in any other before.

Concerning to the task content, this task fits like a glove with the peculiar situation we are living since as future primary education teachers, this situation is making us discover many technological tools and applications which can be implemented with educational purposes, and our PLE has changed drastically being now richer and full of different new resources than before.

In relation to my group's performance, the best moment in this project has been the moment where the diagram was finished despite all the initial doubts, discussions and problems, at least we created a decent diagram.

Adding to this, I must say that I am quite proud of how everyone worked to achieve our idea of how to do it but I have to hightlight the work that our stars made, they didn't just present our project to the rest of the class, they took seriously their duties as members of this group and they even created their script and virtually met without being assigned to do that by nobody, something that since the beginning of this course I have been saying, I appreciate a lot the point of having INITIATIVE because sometimes it is difficult that only one person pays attention to every detail.

What's more, at the end of the class Linda gave us some tips to improve our task development. One of the things that she told us was that a PLE is something which is not static, it is constantly developing, so that an article was not adequate for a PLE, something which personally I didn't quite undestand since the articles which we chose, they had the option to leave comments and receiving a newsletter to be as in one of them a pro podcaster and to be updated about possible other topics in relation to that same topic.

Adding to this, some other things that as a group we had to have in mind for future projects is that you can't give up when difficulties appear, and the most essential act that you could do is proposing solutions and implementing changes and not just focusing on how tricky the situation has been planned or any other issues which are more of a burden than any other thing.

Giveup Dinosaur GIF - Giveup Dinosaur Friends - Descubre ...

It sounds paradoxical just in this situation that we are experiencing as a society to offer this feedback, but there are always days when all we ever encounter are difficulties, not letting us moving forward. Nevertheless, the challenges we deal with along the way are not there to make us give up and just spend the rest of our days being disappointed about life. The challenges found on our paths are meant to test ourselves, to check if we're made of stronger stuff and this is my message to encourage people in this difficult situation that we are going through, you have to always look for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Summing up, something which is very positive in our group is that most of them are very hardworking people, open to help when it is needed but there is a thing which I really appreciate and it's when some person adds humour in the worst situations. Sometimes, sense of humour can save the whole situation, it makes you stop your stress by a moment, it makes you feel calmer, ready to keep working, leaving apart the seriousness or nerves that some situations can generate and seeing things clearer, there is no doubt that sense of humour is a life skill that everybody needs and now even more.

WEEK 8: FACILITATOR

Hey, what's up? Welcome back to our post!✌ I'm Lorena and this week I have played the facilitator's role. As a facilitator I am in charge of coordinating the work of my group 馃應. This role presents now more difficulties due to the confinement we are suffering due to COVID-19 but I strongly believe that we together we can handle this better馃憤.

This week's task was about PLE (Personal Learning Environment), which is the combination of tools, people, and services that make up individualized resources and approach to learning. The task consisted of making a diagram 馃搲 explaining what was our PLE for using three communication channels (Youtube, a podcast and an online announcement board). I can say without doubt, that this has been the most difficult task we've been doing馃槙. But, step by step!
Firstly, on Tuesday, we had an online class 馃捇 where the teacher explained us the task. Afterwards, as the facilitator, I divided our group into mini-groups, and each group was in charge of explain one communication channel of the ones that I mentioned earlier and we arranged together a meeting. That afernoon we had a videoconfernce together where we talked about possible ideas for the diagram and we made a brainstorming of ideas that it's also useful for us now that we are not physically together 馃槥

Brainstorm Everyday Snap GIF - BrainstormEveryday Snap Finger GIFs

We decided to represent our diagram as a tree 馃尦, making a metaphor that each channel was one of the roots of the tree. Each channel will be in a different colour and from eaxh channel, some arrows would grow, arriving at the different tools we chose, each one with its type, mechanisms and activities. For the task, Patricia and me were in charge of looking information about the Youtube channel 馃捇, Marina and F谩tima about the podcast 馃捊, Luc铆a and Ver贸nica about the online announcement board 馃搮 and 脕lvaro and David created the diagram. As I said before, this has been such as exhausting and dificult task, because we dind´t understood at all what we must do, but finally and with a great effort, I think we made it and I cannot be more proud of my team 馃槉.

On Thurday and, thank to God without difficulties with the videoconference, our stars 脕lvaro and Luc铆a 馃専馃専 couldn't have made it better. Again, I have to thank all my classmates for all the job they've done 馃槏.

Next week, we're on holidays, so we wouldn't upload any posts. Try not to miss us very much! See you in a pair of weeks ✋馃挊馃挊

WEEK 8: TRANSLATOR

happy homer simpson GIF

Hello readers!

It's Marina, this week working as translator. Welcome to my post馃憢

As translator I was in charge of give 5 definitions of 5 terms that we have been using in the activity of this week. The task this time was about PLE. We, as teachers, have searched many tools in order to complete it.
If you want to know more specifically what was the activity about, check my colleagues' posts.

Now, let's talk about the concepts we've used:

1. PLE (Personal Learning Environment): this is the mix of instruments, tools, websites, apps, etc that a person uses normally to learn. (
Casta帽eda, L. y Adell, J. ,2013)

2. Online Announcement Board: it is a tool that allows the interaction between participants to give their opinion on a topic, such a forum. It works via online. We were not very familiar with this tool, but researching about it we have seen that it is very useful! (Douglas, 2017)

Ups GIF by memecandy

3. Podcast: a digital audio or video file or recording馃攰 about a specific topic or subject matter, that can be downloaded. It is currently widely used in the educational field, especially for students. (Toledo, 2019)

4. PLN (Personal Learning Network): consists of  a sistem to help students or professionals to manage their own learning and professional development. It includes the people, places, and things that help you learn.馃摬For that reason, it is a permanent sistem of learning. (Attwell, 2007)

5. Wikihow: it is a similar website to Wikipedia, which means that is a tool where many of the articles are co-written by multiple authors. (Demarais, 2015)

To finish, I would say that the weackness this week has been the lack of understanding of the task along with the reduced time of preparation, by the way, we have worked very hard and we hope you like it as much as we do!!

Thank you all.
