JOURNALISTS WEEK 7

Hello everybody and welcome back to our world. Here we are, Lorena and David, the journalists 👔💼 of this week .
This week has been a very busy one, with COVID-19 affecting us yet 😔. But with a positive attitude and enthusiasm, we will win the battle ✌

Feelin The Joy GIF - FreshPrinceOfBelAir Carlton CarltonDance GIFs

As journalist, we are in charge of recording and documenting all the work 📷📼📹. On Tuesday, we had a videoconference with our teacher Linda where she explained us our new task: we had to create a comic, a cave art comic especially, to represent the potentialities of ICT in our lives. Firstly, we were a little bit worried because we didn't have an idea of what to do. But in stressful situations, our facilitator Lucía appeared. She told us to investigate about tools for making the comic, information abou the cave art technique and the lecture of the document and we arrange a meeting on Wednesday to share our ideas and make a brainstorming 😉

Wednesday arrived and we were ready at 10 o clock to work. We download the app 'Zoom' without problems and we have an exhausting meeting where we distribute the work and we decide what story tell and what applications use to explain it. Here you have some pictures of the meeting to check our hotness 😂😍

With all the work distributed we were ready to work, I was in charge together with Lucía of making an script 📝 detailing how the images should be and the dialogues of the characters. Álvaro was in charge of drawing 🎨, Fátima and Patricia were our stars 🌟🌟 so they had to prepare a guide for their speeches in the presentation day and Verónica, Marina and David were in charge of technical aspects 💻. Now you can observe some pictures of the process :

This is the template we used to implement our comic done with Microsoft Word after experimenting with diverse applications such as Fotojet and Comic generator tool 2.0.

This is an sketch of how our troglodytes would look like.

Finally, the presenatation day arrived and we were very excited. The app we use for the class was totally collapsed and it was impossible to present. We were scared because we wanted to present this day. At the end, we found another application where can could do our presentations without problem. Our stars were shining and they did it perfect, so we gave them a massive applause.

At this point, it is time to stop talking about us and recognize the weekly work of some of our colleagues. We would like to highlight our classmates from:
 https://theoutsidersrict1920.blogspot.com/?m
We have enjoyed a lot their comic photo and the way they used this tool to express how teaching has evolved from the past taking advantage of the resources available with the advance in technology, helping the students development.

And last but not least, we would like to mention an interesting website for those that want to get into the wonderful world of comics.
http://comicisart.blogspot.com/ is a blog that honors what they call the 9th art. Here, you'll be able to take a look at some captivating comics, get to know the biggest artists of this doctrine...

And that's all for now. We hope you are doing good!! Stay tuned for more!

WEEK 7: TRANSLATOR.

Good afternoon readers!

I am so happy to be here again with those of you who are reading this post, this week we
have been commenting the potentialities of technology, to carry out this task, our facilitator
divided all the tasks in a videoconference to represent our ideas in a cave art comic, maybe
you are wondering "What?!, cave art comic??!" That was the same feeling that I had...
Below you have my real face at that moment...
(Lorena, please don't make jokes about the lady and my age, thanks, not thanks XD).

Significado de WTF | Qué es, concepto y definición ✅

Luckily, I reached to this definition...

- Cave art comic: it is a type of comic based on the inspiration of cave art paintings, where
the technique consisted of representing drawings on the walls or ceilings from a cave made with
the available material on that prehistoric period.

However, I started reading the article written by Lemke (2010), and several terms were incorporated to my capital knowledge :

- Multimodality: it makes reference to the interaction between different representational modes,
in this case, the use of text or sound and visuals together and it can highly increase students’ achievement. Moreover, the use of interactive multimodal designs, such as simulations, modeling, and real-world experiences increases the level of performance in students.

- Visualization: it is one of technology’s potentialities, it improves learning by having a visual
representation of the content with the use of technology. This content should include preferably a
combination of text and visuals, physically integrated and synchronized in time also. Some
examples are interactive graphics and posters, online games or Youtube videos.Visualization can be more powerful if we, as teachers, carry out methods such as:

- Developing students as informed consumers of information, for example by teaching
students how to analyse advertisers’ manipulation of images.

Pusheen Detective GIF - Pusheen Detective Searching - Descubre ...
- Engaging students in thinking critically and creatively using visuals. A strategy for
this could be allowing them to make their own authentic investigations about different topics.

- Participatory learning: another of the potentialities found in technology could be that
previously, schools had always been focused (and still do) on the individual acquisition of knowledge.
Participatory learning requires people that can work in team and collaborate with others, sharing their
tenets and principles or any other kind of knowledge, something which is needed in our society more
than never. This translates into a need to restructure learning, teaching, and assessment to increasingly emphasize and value the participation in groups and the group’s knowledge creation, apart from the individual’s acquisition of knowledge.
Image result for brainstorm gif | Humor diseño gráfico, Halloween ...
- Democratization of knowledge: Internet and all the sources related with it have provided us
with a variety of opportunities to create, communicate, share and learn. Despite the rapid growth of
technology, there are communities that survive without any type of technology. Schools play an
important part in this issue, because they can take an active role and provide the students with the
technology that is not available in their houses. Democratization of knowledge refers to the process by which access to knowledge thanks to technology rapidly continues to become more accessible to more people. New technologies and improved user experiences have empowered those outside of the technical industry to access and use technological products and services.

All of these terms have been essential in the development of our weekly task, but indeed these potentialities
or innovations gifted by the introducement of technology in our lives are nowadays more visible than ever
before due to the fact that with this crisis, we are noticing the greater benefits that technology is bringing up
to our lives.

In fact, technology is resulting to be one of the indispensable tools to keep our students up to date with the
theoretical classes in the shape of handouts via email due to the uncertainty of the duration of this situation
or videoconferences.

However, me, as teacher in an academy, I am also realising about the limits of this tool, sometimes is not as
interactive as a face to face class and we can’t have everything under control since there are always
connection problems and your students and parents don’t own the technological knowledge to resolve
some kind of technological issues.

Nevertheless, I am getting used to it and this is a new opportunity to experiment new ideas that enrich
our students’ knowledge and make them learn having fun, which is for me the best way to acquire new
contents, learning without noticing!.
Jennifer Aniston Love This Job GIF - JenniferAniston LoveThisJob ...

Furthermore, one of the points that I consider which is rather vital on these days is the one which was
mentioned in the point of “visualization”, we must educate students to be critical and make them able
to detect fake news or hoaxes, something that is extremely important to avoid chaos or hysteria along
these days and make things even worse.

Summing up, these concepts which have been presented to us throughout this week are quite
appropriate to this time that we’re living, but we can’t forget that technology is just a tool, and this is
something that on these times we are also noticing, the real light is inside all of us.

CURATOR WEEK 7

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to this week´s posts from our honest 8plus half members. Today, I myself, Álvaro, will be presenting this post as curator farmer, sharing with you all the informational sources used for the past sessions and their corresponding tasks:

After all this sources, their entirety has been of equal importance when it came down to performing each activity, and it was indeed through effort and organization that we were able to thrive in these situations of need and difficulty, but nothing that we cannot handle, we are capable and developing students and teachers that still have a seemengly endless path in front of them after all.

This week has been the second out of our rather peculiar situation, but let us hope that it all is´t for nothing and keep working hard for everyone else´s health. This time is certainly a time of empathy and understanding, let us hope we actually meet those necessities...

WEEK 7: ANALYST

Im Ready Lets Go GIF by Leroy Patterson

Good morning!! This is Marina, the analyst of 8plushalf this week.

As good analysts do, my job this week has been to do the weekly evaluation of the group members’ performance.🌈

Now, I will comment what we have learnt and how was our teamwork in this complicated situation, since our collaboration has been carried out remotely, through numerous means of communication.📲👀

For me, and I think also for my colleagues, THE BEST MOMENT this week was when we were videoconferencing doing brainstorming and pooling our opinions and ideas. This conference was convened by our Facilitator Lucía💖 who, with pride I would say that she has been an excellent "director" this week, organizing everything, listening and giving nice orders.
proud season 3 GIF

Talking about THE WORSE of this week...could honestly say that it has been not being able to see each other physically😢. It is not the same relationship to see and listen to us with metallic voices through the screens, than notice our good vibrations when we are really together.
This says a lot about us as a group, or rather, as FAMILY!
💘👪

As analyst, I HAVE LEARNT many things but, the most important and useful for my future as teacher is that every contribution is just as valid as any other because everyone does what is in their power.💪

Finally I would like to say that all members of our group have worked very hard (some more than others) and in today's presentation of our comic "A New World", the stars🌟🌟 Patricia and Fátima have shone more han ever :)

I loved being the analyst and I love you guys!!
See you soon.

Marina

WEEK 7: STARS!!!!!

Hi again guys👋👋!! This week Patricia and Fátima had the privilege of being stars✴. And the thing is that we have worked very well and we have collaborated with each other.

Resultado de imagen de gifs animados de amigos

Last Tuesday as you know due to the circumstances, we have done again a videoconference in which our teacher explained us the task of creating a comic. She asked for representing the four potentialities of technology in education in a cave art comic🎨, found in Lemke's document.

Thus, the facilitator divided the different tasks in order to be efficient and organized. All the steps and the roles that each one have performanced within the activity have been described in the other posts. Don't hesitate to take a look at them👀😉.

Anyway, we are here to tell you how was our experience. Once we have took the main potentialities of the document📑, we started to decide which of them were the four most important and which would be better represented visually. To make it easier, the facilitator proposed to do a videocall📹.

Afterwards, we divided the content between us. Patricia explained the introduction and the first three vignettes and Fátima the last three ones and the conclussion. Here you have the potentialities that we have developed in our speech:

INTRODUCTION and VIGNETTE 1:

We are the stars from “8 plus half” and we are going to explain the work that we have done this week. We have created a “Cave art” comic🎨 (which is a type of comic inspired on the prehistoric paintings, to create it we have been inspired by the animated film “the croods”, that has scenes with this type of art.

In the comic, we represent the importance of 4 different potentialities that have the innovation through technology💻. We have worked as a team💪 for this activity, we divided the work between our members;  Fatima and I we are going to present the task, Lorena and Lucia prepared the dialogue and the information, Alvaro made the drawings and Veronica, Marina and David created the comic.

On the first scene we can see how our prehistoric family gets in touch with technology for the first time through a time gate.

VIGNETTE 2: DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS AS INFORMED CONSUMERS OF INFORMATION

On the second one we wanted to represent the importance of the Development of students as informed consumers of information💁, this is one of the potentialities that we found within the innovation of visualisation👀. We have chosen it because we think that it is really important that the students learn to analyse the advertisements and identify digital manipulations in them.

VIGNETTE 3:ENGAGEMENT OF STUDENTS IN THINKING CRITICALLY AND CREATIVELY

In this scene, we tried to show the relevance of another potentiality within visualization, which is the Engagement of students in thinking critically and creatively using visuals. Here, the daughter wants to demonstrate his father that technologies also have many benefits. She shows him an application📱 called “Huntingasawayoflife”, where they can find new techniques to improve the hunting.

VIGNETTE 4 : DEMOCRATIZATION OF KNOWLEDGE

We want to represent that nowadays people can access to knowledge easily through Internet but
not all the population have equal access to the technological devices.
( In the comic they are sharing the devices and learning how to use them). This potentiality provides opportunity for lifelong individual and group learning, teaches the ability to check reliable information, allows us to use learning objects (Youtube videos, interactive websites) and connects formal (subject to curriculum) and informal learning (unconscious and outside school framework)🧠.

VIGNETTE 5 : PARTICIPATORY LEARNING

Before describing the image we will explain how educators think about learning in three different ways:
  • Acquisition model: what the individual know and is able to learn.
  • Participation model: focus on interaction within group and team work ability.
  • Knowledge creation model: measure individual’s contributions and the resultant knowledge from working in groups.
In the image we tried to portray how crutial is the team work. But we wanted you to realize that working on groups
doesn't mean only act collaboratelly with the members (participation model) but also analyse the individual contributions
(acquisition model) and the knowledge that emerges from teamwork (knowledge creation model). Recently, in schools is
present the acquisition model. So, schools need a restructuration using these three models in order to engage students in a participatory culture👫👬. This potentiality is important as society requires working in a both participatory and collaborative way because if not will be produced the ripple effect within the group.

VIÑETA 6: CONCLUSION

In the picture it is seen how the introduction of technology has improved troglodites' life.
To sum up, technology is a successful way of learning and adapting to the demands of the XXI century society.
However, to engage the mentioned potentialities or innovations required within technology🖥 and that are important to be
informed and cautious users,  they need to be educated in different skills such as creativity, critical reasoning, collaboration, adaptability, multimodal learning, self- direction and information literacy.
As a result, teachers will immerse students in the called authentic learning, being these abilities transversal.

This was the first time that we have made an online presentation💬, it was a bit stressfull and we were quite nervous but our groupmates helped us a lot and made our task easier👍.

That's all for this week, we hope you enjoyed our speech and comic, until next week readers!💜

WEEK 7: Facilitator

Hi everyone! I’m Lucía and this week I was the facilitator👩🏻. This role, in my opinion, has become more complicated now that we have to do everything online🖥️. It is harder for communication to flow the way it does face to face. But despite this additional difficulty, our work this week went pretty well.

This week’s task was to create a comic🖌️🎨💬 in which we had to portray the four main technological potentialities in education, based on a text by Cheryl Lemke. Out of the 7 types of comics we were presented, we picked the Cave Art style.

On Tuesday, even before the task was given to us, the first thing I did was arranging our meeting online as a group to discuss ideas about the project. We decided to do it on Wednesday at 10.15 on the morning. At first, I thought about doing it on Hangouts (as our teacher suggested), but after trying this tool and not being fully convinced by it, I decided to do it on Zoom (which I also had to test, since I hadn’t used it before). It was important to try the application before our meeting so that there wouldn’t be too much technological trouble.

Before our meeting on Wednesday, I told my teammates that it was key for them to read the text 📖by Lemke (“Innovation through technology”) so that they were prepared for our brainstorm the following day.

Our meeting began by discussing the points that we wanted to choose as technological potentialities (there was a bit of controversy about which points to choose). Having made clear this first step, we moved on to have a brainstorm 💭about ideas to portray the potentialities into scenes in cave art style (Lorena had already written down some good ideas that came to her on Tuesday). We decided to do 6 scenes (an introduction, a scene for each potentiality and a conclusion). After discussing some aspects of how we were going to put all the elements together and what application to use, I distributed tasks✍🏼:

- Lorena: scriptwriter. She had the job to write properly, in a script form, all the scenes we had already talked about (the ideas were already there, from the brainstorm).
- Lucía (me): I had to adapt Lorena’s script into narrative and dialogue globes, as well as designing the distribution of the elements.
- Fátima and Patricia: they had to prepare their presentation for Thursday
- Álvaro: illustrator. He had to draw the cartoons and objects and then scan them.
- Marina and David: they had to take Álvaro’s scanned drawings and cut the pictures so that they could be implemented into the online version of our comic.
- Verónica: she was in charge of putting the “collage” together, taking the already cut pictures and the dialogue globes and dsitribution of elements (basically, the previous design), using the application “Fotojet”.

Everyone in our team worked really hard this week, although some were more relaxed than others. But at the end, we were extremely happy with the result. On Thurday (our presentation day), after difficulties with the videoconference, our stars ⭐(Fátima and Patricia) presented the work at last (but not least😉), and did an amazing job.

We hope you liked our comic and we will see you around! (Although just on a screen😂)

ANALYST: WEEK 6

Hello there dear readers!!! 🙋🏻‍♂️❤️

I´m David, this week as the analyst. 🕵🏻‍♂️🔍

To be in these shoes means I am in charge of examining the group´s work as a whole, identifying our strengths and weaknesses to become the better version os 8plusHalf we can be!!

When I pose myself the question of what has been the best part of this week, it´s difficult to find an answer, because as we are not able to work physically together, our work as a group has been limited to distribute tasks individually, and each one of us has to do it by his/her own at home. 🥴🤨

But as I move onto the next question "What has been the worse part of this week?", I realize that there is a great and important thing to extract from this difficult situation. ❓❓

As I said before, the worst part is that we are not able to see each other and work face to face with the rest of the group members, which would make things so much easier. However, paying attention to this situation, I am finally able to find A GREAT GROUP ACHIEVEMENT: and this is, that we have been well-organized, and, from my POV, have successfully overcome this weird week by working as a group but from the distance. 🤘🏻🙏🏻

So for me, the best part of this 6th week has been our capacity to surpass these difficulties and to develop our tasks as good as always.

I found this as a beautiful fact, according to the metaphor: "you can always learn something good, even in the worst moments". ❌➡️✅

Moving forward on the reflection, the best thing to conserve as a great aspect of this week is just that, our great teamwork, and this is such a great achievement that I can´t really find an aspect to improve. 👀👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

This has been a great opportunity to see the correlation between our group and other content from our course, such as the grouping and connections topics in organisation and diversity subject, as we have been able to observe how can we split our tasks as a group. ♻️🔗🖇

And last but not least, this week´s work has been clearly influenced by external social factors just like the coronavirus, which has been the main reason our difficulties have appeared. 😷🤢

So finishing with my reflection, I am way too proud of how our group has overcome these issues, and I can´t wait to see how we keep on going with this Coronavirus epoch!!💪🏻

Hope to see you next time!! And please remember to #stayathome #staysafe ❤️🥰

CURATOR FARMER: WEEK 6

Hello readers!👋👋 I am Patricia and this week I have played the role of curator Farmer🌲. So this week I am the responsable of collecting all the lynks or sites of information📄 that our group has used during these days. This week we have worked more than ever with technological devices💻 and internet📡 sites since we couldn't work together in a physical way due to the Corona virus😓.

Last thursday (12th), we couldn't perform our activities of "Un día en el cole de mi maestro" because the kids didn't come😢, it was a bit disappointing, but we could do them with our classmates💪 and get some feedback from them instead, which was quite useful😃.

For tuesday's class our teacher Linda asked us to modify the thursday's activity (robots)🤖 so that it could be performed in an online way, that is why this week we have needed more digital informational sites than ever.

We redesigned the robots🤖 activity using several information sources related to geometric shapes𑗊△ such us the following ones:
