WEEK 5: FACILITATORS

Hello everyone!!

We are Ver贸nica and Marina, the facilitators of the group during this week.

As facilitators, we have experienced a week where COVID-19馃拪 has been trending topic everywhere, but as we are all overwhelmed by the situation, coronavirus is going to be our "Voldemort".

Students and teachers have been quite cautious and we had to adapt to the circumstances, something which is a great lesson to all of us since for being more professional teachers these kind of situations are going to be a great opportunity to acquire an essential feature which is flexibility!

Here's how we've carried out our job.

Last Thursday we had the Codey Rocky activity from "Un d铆a en el cole de mi maestro" in which there was a small mishap馃槄 as we had a larger group of students than we initially expected.
However, as facilitators we had to save the situation and what we did was creating different groups of children leaded by experts, who were the ones in charge of guiding each group and teaching how to code our friend "Harry Potty".

Indeed, by doing so, the activity was even more fun, students were quite motivated by the competition between teams, and the name of our activity "Harry Potty's mission" even gained more importance, they had to take Harry Potty from 9 3/4's platform to Hogwarts school as soon as possible, being the first ones!

The organization was successful, we had a great time with them and they were rather motivated since most of them knew Harry Potter's series of novels and they were eager to show off their knowledge about the different Harry Potter's hotspots  馃挭馃挆.

The next activity was Augmented Reality and took place on Tuesday, March 10. Because of this unexpected pandemic, many students were unable to come, so our group was composed by two students, when the activity was initially set for about 5 children.

Nevertheless, we had the feeling of having done a good job, the best gift was seeing students' faces when the experiment was conducted and they were shocked by seeing their drawings taking dimension. Adding to this, they didn't know what the water cycle was about, so that we felt that they were learning while having fun in a lesson that they will never forget as we won't neither!

Adding to this, we must say that before and after the whole process, we have to admit that we have had the feeling of being a pain in the ass with some members since we were reminding them all the tasks which have to be done, reminding each person the materials to prepare them, dividing the tasks and organising them as well as making last minute changes to have a more effective result! Some tips that we would give are that initiative is very important to set the change and if you want to make a change be the change itself!

It's been a very intense week but we've really enjoyed it just as we've learned from it.

Take care!

Ver贸nica and Marina.
